Welcome! Columbia Area Mental Health Center (CAMHC) is an outpatient facility of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. CAMHC provides comprehensive and accessible behavioral health services in Richland and Fairfield Counties. As one of the largest community mental health centers in South Carolina, we employ compassionate and experienced professionals who are ready and willing to assist in an individual’s road to recovery. We offer a variety of evidenced based treatments for children, adolescents (and their families), and adults. We have a wide range of treatment services and programs, located throughout the county, and our offices are open Monday-Friday from 8:30-5pm. Each year, CAMHC serves over 7000 patients with serious mental illness or emotional disturbances.
CAMHC also offers 24/7 emergency psychiatric services to anyone who is experiencing a mental health crisis. This service can be accessed by calling us at 833-364-2274 and speaking to a mental health professional. When needed, on-site evaluations can happen as well.
We want CAMHC to be a place you feel comfortable coming to for treatment, and a place you will recommend to your friends and families. We believe in the importance of mental health as a major factor in contributing to your quality of life, and we provide services regardless of your ability to pay. To make an appointment, please contact our Intake office at (803) 898-8888. We look forward to meeting and serving you!

We are proud to be a part of this community and are fortunate to have such a wide variety of “top notch” resources in Richland and Fairfield County.
We often join forces with these organizations in an effort to expand services and improve access to resources. Below are a few key partners we would like to thank for their commitment to making our community a better place to live.
A National Health Service Corps site
As A National Health Service Corps site, we promise to serve all patients, offer discounted fees for patients who qualify, and not deny services based on a person’s race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or ability to pay. The Center accepts several insurances, including Medicaid, Medicare and SC Healthy Connections for Children. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income.
Columbia Area Mental Health Center does not discriminate against or refuse services to anyone based on age, sex, gender, race, religion, disability, national origin, health status, sexual orientation or economic status.
